    I do nothing. They eat grubs and worms wont eat roots. I tried to get them with mole traps but it was never ending so I gave up. Doesn't seem to hurt the vines or production and they help to aerate the soil. If you use Grub X then you'll be might be drinking wine that's contaminated with Grub X.

    Well it looks like I lost about 25% of active growth. The vines furthest away from sprinkler suffered the most. A lot of buds have not yet opened and may or may not have been damaged. Without the sprinkler running it would have been much worse! It does work but 26 deg is hard to beat.

    Made It through the first round of frost last night. 28 deg heavy frost. Sprinkler worked great, it looked like Christmas with all the ice sickles hanging from the vines. round two Friday night!

    Questions from a tiny backyard vineyard

    Look for Disease resistance varieties, Corot Noir, Regent , Arandell, Cayuga White, all are zone 6a and make great wine. Double A Vineyards is an excellent suppler. Wineries can grow the more difficult varieties, they have better spray equipment to prevent disease.
