    Other Tweeking Cheap Kits

The ABC Crafted wines are available on Amazon (limited options) and direct from ABC website https://craftedseries.com/collections/winemaking-kits Black Friday sale for the Medium/Heavy-Bodied option was around $80.

    Other Tweeking Cheap Kits

Here's one that turned out really nice. Started on July 7, 2024 and bottled on November 21, 2024. Tweaks include: adding 1 tsp tannins, 1 ounce of French oak chips, and 4 ounces of dried cherries from Walmart (the cherries tasted like cherry pie :) . Initial SG was 1.090 so I added 4 Cups...

We did a lot of crazy things during the gas shortage crisis. My dad bought a tiny Fiat because Consumer Report listed it as "best gas mileage." It was broken down constantly and the nearest repair shop was far away. Once, we loaded it into the back of a cattle trailer to get it to the shop. Fun...

You can send this picture and your question to @iowahawkblog on X/Twitter. Must include #DavesCarIDService to make sure your request doesn't slip past him. He does a series of car ID's on the weekends. Very fun if you like old cars and nostalgia.

    Other Tweeking Cheap Kits

Go for @wineview and let us know how you like it. I’ve added green table grapes to a white wine kit before which turned out great. The golden raisins seems to be a low risk experiment. I may try it myself. Good luck.

Other ABC Cork series vs Fontana series

Interesting Chris. Thanks for sharing this information.

    Other Amazon Fontana kits

I believe the Fontana kits are designed to have an ABV of 11-11.5% unless you add sugar or reduce water to raise the ABV.

    RJ Spagnols RJS kits

Basedon the Tweaking Cheap Kits thread, I've added a cup of raisins or Zante currants to primary for cheaper Amarone kits. For the high end RJS En Primeur kit, I follow the directions and it tastes good to me at 5-6 months.

I read them all from the beginning to now @joeswine. Great information shared here. Thank you!

    Other Tweeking Cheap Kits

I believe it was @joeswine that posted this tweak for Pinot Noir: "In primary add dried Plums or Italian Plums f-pac (adds earthiness)." Maybe he has more recent ideas for you. Stand by.

Rhubarb Dessert Wine Step Feeding Question

Thank you. I added 1 tsp nutrient per gallon at the outset then Ferm-Aid K according to label at 1/3 sugar depletion. Still ok to add reduced levels of nutrient now to see if it gives a boost?

Rhubarb Dessert Wine Step Feeding Question

Good info. My pH was at 3.25.

Rhubarb Dessert Wine Step Feeding Question

I'm in the process of making this Rhubarb into dessert wine and it's also my first try at step feeding with sugar. Based on suggestions from this forum, when the SG got down to 1.010, I added enough sugar to raise to 1.020. I've done this twice. The last time fermentation slowed way down and...

    Other Fav Rose kit(s)

I've done the RJS Pinot Rosé which was good. But probably the most popular was one of the Wine Lover's (now ABC Crafted Series) which was economical then I tweaked it.

Finer Wine Kit Experiment with yeast starter

Thanks for sharing this information and for going to the effort to compare. I'm not one to do too may "tests", so your curiosity, and shared results, I find very helpful.

    Other Tweeking Cheap Kits

In my opinion, no need to short water or add any sugar to the high end kits. You get a lot of juice with them and they generally result in a decent ABV as well. If you want to tweak these, you might try switching out yeast.

Finer Wine Kit Finer Wine Kit Bordeaux vs Meritage

I tweaked the Meritage kit a bit and enjoy it a lot. I added a blackberry f-pac to the dried raisins that came with it. Also split the oak so 1/2 went into the secondary. Plus I added 1 tsp of tannins to secondary. If you like oak flavor, you'd probably like this. If you're not as crazy about...
