4" of rain

Had 4" of rain yesterday. I was planning on picking today, should I wait? Brix is around 23 before rainfall.

I would wait; especially if you get some sun this week.

How long should I wait? Looks to be dry for next 4 or 5 days.

It depends. I suggest you test again each day and watch to see if there is any degradation of the grapes. What variety?

Marquette, the grapes are covered with insect netting. They look good

I had to let mine hang about two weeks too long. I wasn't able to harvest so I lost some to raisins and pucker. If they haven't started to raisin or drop, let them get over the washout.

Brix dropped 2 points, however they taste good

Wow. I'd heard a lot of rain could wash out the sugar. I didn't know how much.

Hopefully I can pick on Friday and sugar level returns.

Do you test for TA or just rely on pH? I don’t have the ability to do it yet and don’t really plan on getting the equipment for a while.

I use brix and pH for picking. I test and adjust acid if necessary after field blending prior to fermentation.

Picked my Verona grapes today, they are at 21 brix, the berries were splitting and dropping. To make things worse the fruit Flys were out by the thousands, many berries were sucked dry.
