We are thinking about starting the MM La Bodega Port kit after our Lambrusco leaves the primary. My question is since this is a 3gal kit is it still ok to use our 6 gal primary then rack it to a 3 gal. carboy or do we need to get a smaller primary?

Mrs Chevy is leaning to a White Zin ,I'm leaning to the Port maybe we'll need to start both!!!!!

The bigger primary will be fine for starting it in until transfer. Just don't leave it there past the time to transfer. I like your thinking aboutstarting both.

The bigger primary is better since it will get more air but like Appleman said dont slack on racking it!

Yes, a 6 gallon primary will be just fine. You could use an 8 gallon or a 5 gallon. It don't really matter. Just needs to be a couple gallons bigger than your volume to give room for foaming if there is any. At 6 gallons you have double the space and will be fine. If I remember correct, the directions state to use a 6 gallon primary. I used my 8 gallon for mine and there wasn't any foaming at all.
