Airlock and cheap vodka

I have switched to one step use it in air locks seem stuff keeps growing in them yuck. Anyhow read somewhere people use vodka instead. Is this a good idea?

I always use metabisulfite solution in my airlocks. Never really have an evaporation issue, but I do look at them at least once a week.

Another vote for vodka. My airlocks are cheap dates, they don't need Grey Goose or Ketel One. Military Special (Only sold in PX/BX/Class six stores) works just as well. If I can just ignore those looks from the cashier as I ask for a pint, "No, I swear it's for my airlock."
Also effective as a fuit fly deterrent.

Funny. I think i'll get some and try. Seems like a good idea to me. Fruit fly.. didn't think about that either another good idea hate those flys.
