Hi Everyone,

I was reading on another web site a report of a supplier that has a beef with Mosti Mondiale for alleged unscrupulous practices regarding unfair pricing to distributors and retailers. In the diatribe on his site, among other things, he alleges that the AllJuice product is not "all juice" and that one is really paying for shipping a lot (7 liters) of water.

The supplier claims that the AllJuice is just a marketing gimmick and the kit is really a lower grade 16 liter kit with water added. They say that the Renaissance product is a higher quality kit. I have made a number of the AllJuice wines and none of the Renaissance. I would be interested in the views of people on the site who are familiar with both products.

I haven't made any of the All Juice but I've made a couple of the Renaissance and was very pleased with both wines. You may (or may not) have read me suggest many time to folks to try the Amarone in that line. I made mine back in 2007 and it's still outstanding and one of the best wines I've made. The other was a Carmenere which is a good wine, not as good as the other but still a very nice wine.

I have heard that complaint before, about other manufacturers' 23 L "all-juice" kits, but that is the specific aspect of MM's Alljuice that is supposed to set it apart - MM's Alljuice kits are *actually* 100% juice and *not* a concentrate with water added before shipping. That's why George carries the MM Alljuice kits and not the other makers' 23L kits. So if the supplier is correct, then Nino of MM has snowed George too, 'cuz the info above came from George 2-3 years ago.

Thanks, Fellows. I have made several AllJuice wines and Ihave been very pleased with them. I have confidence that George is looking out for us. I have an Amarone in bulk aging right now and the "samples" of it that I have tasted are extremely promising. I have not tried the Carmenere yet, but I intend to do so. I know that is becoming a very popular wine.

I have made both. More Renaissance than AJ. Have been very pleased with the Renaissance over all. I have noticed some Renaissance kits are actually higher priced than the same AJ varietal which I thought was very strange!

And the Renaissance is cheaper to ship! Mike have you tried any of Mosti's Masters kits? I've made 1 and it is really outstanding.

I just reread the descriptions of the masters and all juice wine kits. The masters says that it is made of 100% grape juice but the all juice description does not specifically state that. Interesting.

So wade, are you saying it's all juice, just not as good of quality? The question is, are they adding water or not. If they are, they should say so, if not, that is okay also. Would just like to Know what we are paying for.

From the discussion above, I think my future strategy is to get themastersproduct for an "all juice" choice and to go with Renaissance or Meglioli for kitsto which water is added when purchasing the Mosti Mondiale products.Shipping is realy the issue and this is becoming more of a consideration with the recent gas prices. Thanks for the excellent insight.

Rocky, I am considering doing the same - spend the extra $$ on the Master's or Meglioli version if available, instead of the Alljuice. I like the lljuice but have not tried the Master's or MEglioli versions, but have always heard good things about them.

As an example, the Alljuice Barolo is $118 (on special this month at $107), while the Master's Edition Granbarolo is $148, and the Meglioli with grape pack is $189. ~$40 increase for each upgrade, but that's $1.33 per bottle - the Meg is only" ~$6 per bottle. Some varietals aren't available at each level but my intention is to go for the more expensive kits in the future.

That sounds like a good plan Bart. From what has been posted here I am a little bit leary about the AllJuice buckets. I will probably shy away from them unless and until something more definitive is known. It sounds like they could be lower quality juice with water added. The few extra bucks for 30 bottles of wine that are great vs. wine that is okay seem to be worth it.

Someone (Masta) gave me a bottle of the Masters Barolo a few years ack and it was awesome. Why I havent made that kit yet I dont know, I just keep forgetting about it until posts like this come up.

I have not made any Masters or Meglioli. Could never get past the sticker shock....

I know what you mean Mike, but if we can yield 30 bottles out of the kit, it is still only $6-7 per bottle. And the self satisfaction cannot be valued.

Rocky, I have made a couple of the All Juice kits and they were very good. I have made 3 or 4 Rennaissance kits and they were equally good.
George would NEVER slight a customer or sell a product he didn't believe in. You are in good hands with both of these products. IMO.

Kathie, I hope no one misconstrued what I was getting at. I have full confidence in George and I think he deals straight with all of us. I have made a number of AllJuice products and I was wondering if I shouldtry theMasters or Meglioli and if they would be an improvement over the AllJuice. From what I glean from the people on the site, the Masters and Meglioli are higher quality (and higher price).
I happened upon the other supplier while on eBay. He had two AllJuice up for auction with no reserve. I think I ended up paying something like $55 for each of two kits, a Zinfandel and a Sauvignon Blanc. I went to his site and he had Meglioli for about the same price as George sells itwith the clubdiscount and free delivery. I was going back to order a Meglioli when I saw that he no longer handled Mosti Mondiale products due to a squabble over pricing.

The All juice wine of the month states". These wine kits are 100% all juice and are not
re-constituted concentrate, These wine kits make excellent wine, but do
require patience." I used some RJS Bolero juice buckets that I was not satisfied with. They had reconstituted juice and came from a LHBS.Rocky be careful with ebay you could easily get some 2 year old oxidized juice for your trouble. And worse by the time it is ready to taste the guy is no longer a registered user.

Good advice Andy. Before I bid on the wines I asked the question on the date code. It was from this year so I felt safe and it matched when the product arrived. The seller was a fairly large retailer, not a "fly by nighter" but your advice is sound. Thanks.

BTW, he has not put another wine on eBay without either a reserve priceor a buy it now price.

Sounds like he got burned with the early auctions thinking there would be more demand and drive the price up. I like a bargain as well as anybody but I have grown to not trust Fleabay over the years. Too many things that are not what they were described as.

I do however trust in in George 100%!
