I think the port style kits were supposed to be coming in late August. Has anyone heard an update?

Derek they are 3 gallon. I don't know what they're waiting for. I got mine about 11 months ago and they're already bottled and partially consumed. :)

Thanks! So you're telling me I need a 3gal carboy too? I guess I could split it up after primary into some 1gal jugs.

At least a couple 3 gallon carboys is nearly a requirement for this hobby. :d

Nah, actually, I went a couple years before I bought any. Now I like to split 6 gallon batches into two batches and do different things to each and compare the results. They are not free but not too expensive, compared to the 6 gallon's.

For the port kits I have tried, them make it worth the price!!! You won't be sorry.

Derek, slide by my house as I have a few of these you can sample before you go buying these and the 3 gallon carboys!

Unfortunately, it seems like Amazon no longer sells the 3 gallon glass carboys themselves, which can be a little pricey at some places.

Hmmmm...Hows this, anyone buying a port kit and a 3 gallon carboy at the same time, PM me and I'll send you a gift voucher for $6.00 which will make the carboy $19.99. :b

The literature on these kits implies they are ready to drink by the holidays.

"Reveal your finetaste by sharing your orange chocolate port with friends and family this holiday season."
"Cru Specialty brings you truly unique and distinctive wines to stock your cellar and are perfect for all your holiday entertaining and gift giving."

Are they really good that quickly? I expect mine to arrive Friday and will start it this weekend. Thanks!

I think a very few are. They will progress for quite some time and blend in better but most that have a good size fpac make it come around pretty fast as far as being drinkable. The W.E Chocolate Raspberry Port is a prime example of this, despite being high on abv ittastes pretty good good righr when bottled.
