Apple-splosion!

Hey folks!

I have a batch of Edwort's Apfelwein that's 3 days into primary. Every night, I'm stirring it to help the aerobic fermentation and so there's no settling. I let the wine-whip get out of hand and stirred it a little to hard and had a nice apfelwein fountain in my basement. Fortunately there's a drain next to it.

I probably lost close to a gallon of the must. Can I just top it off with another gallon of apple juice with some yeast nutrient and let it ride? What do you suggest?

I have done that with good results. I usually add sugar to the new gallon so the S.G.s are the same then add. If you used the original recipe with 2 lbs of sugar to 5 gallons of apple juice you will need to use about a 1/2 cup of sugar in the new gallon to have close to the same sg.

If its fermenting fine then yiu dont need it, energizer is a better way to go once fermentation has been in progress for awhile.

Crap. I don't seem to have any of that on hand at the moment. Do you think I should be okay with just adding a gallon with the correct sugar amount into the mix?

If you don't have any you should still be ok. Those vocanoes suck, oh wait they blow! I have had more then I wish for myself. I use to get them during degassing. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
