What I did for my movable barrel. I cut a double barrel rackin half. Welded 3"x4" pads on each leg of rack. Pre-drilled holes to accept casters and bolted on 4 - 330# swivel casters. Decided to bolt on these casters instead of welding in case we ever have to change one out. These casters came from Harbor Freight and they were $4 each. Welded an extra rod on for additional stability to reduce any movement of the rack.

seems to be pretty stable - just go slow and stay on conctete. Figure that it weighs 600-700#. Barrel is full of a water/meta/citric acid solution.


Now, I have the other half for another when I get around 2 it!!

yep good job....now tow that around the streets w that sheriff car that you got...and a little neon sign atop the barrel that says the name of your winery! :)

Or you can modify a piano dolly with a few pieces of wood, though likely not as sturdy as rawhides.

Great job!

I can see all kinds of advantages in having a barrel rack movable.
