Today I:
Racked 6 gal first skeeter pee that was reading O.G. of .995 campben and sorbate.
Racked 6 gal Barbera that should have cleared already, but has not.
Racked 1 gal raisin apple 1 campden and sorbate.
Racked 6 gal of blueberry raisin added 4 campden tablets.
Cleaned 25 bottles and Bottled 5 gallons of apple wine.

I have 3 more 5 gal apple wines to bottle.

Started 12 gallons of edwort apfelwein.

I hope I'm doing all this right and some of it turns out well. the Apple wine is only my third batch of wine to bottle. Thank you for all the advice.

Nate, you were humpin' away today. I've been there only it was a whole weekend. Glad they are few and far between.

I was deer hunting the last two weekends so I got behind on everything.

I did get very thirsty yesterday. I wish my skeeter pee was done.

Speaking of skeeter pee. My LHBS only carries gelatin. Will that work to clear the skeeter pee? I sure hope so because that is what I tried.

Nope.... you're going to end up with a 6 gallon jug of lemon jello; you're going to need a really long handled spoon to eat it out of the carboy.

Just kidding. Both Sparkolloid and Gelatine are positively charged fining agents, so it's possible it will work fine. I haven't used it much, so you'll have to let us know if it works.

i used gelatin on my skeeter pee 10 days ago and it has not cleared at all. 1 tsp per gallon in warm water.

Keep your SP warm. Should be in the mid 70's or so. Mine have all cleared pretty much on their own, think I mite have added sparkaloid to one of them. The other thing is think of lemonaid, it is usually kinda cloudy. If it gets nasty and won't clear, drink a little of it and see how you like it. Get another batch going and the first one will probably be long gone before the second is done. Then the clearing problem is gone til next time. Arne.
