Location
Northern wisconsin
My wife and i arrived in Cashmere a few days ago after driving from Wisconsin. We are looking for an area to move to in two or three years. We are currently stayng at a winery called Voila! winery in Cashmere. they are a small winery with three suites to stay at with mountain views right in the grapes. Doug Snider the owner makes some great wines. The suite is very nice and brand new. We love this area. Everywhere we go we meet really friendly people. Going to East Wenatchee and Chelan today for more exploring and of course sampling some vino at some of the many great small wineries. I am really impressed with the individualism i see here from winemaking to small restaurants and businesses, so different from northern wisconsin. We'll probably end up moving to East Wenatchee, it seems more affordable to find an acre or so. After staying at a winery i think i could handle tending about 50 grape plants. If things work out we can move in 2 years, can't wait. If anyone has any ideas of where to go while we are here please let me know.

So cool to hear your complimentary assessment of the area. My Dad grew up in the Moses Lake/Yakima/Wenatchee area.

I'll be in the area in a weekend or two, myself. If you end up living in the area, we'll definitely have to meet & swap some bottles, as I hope to be spending a large majority of time in Wenatchee in the future

You could make the trip up to Chelan, with the vineyards and wineries around the lake. A lot to do in that area, is outdoors - fishing, hiking, swimming or skiing, etc

There's some cider mills, and the Applet & Cotlets factory in Cashmere - you gotta try those, goooood stuff when they're fresh.

I'll have to make a few calls and see what fairs or events are coming up, I can let ya know.. I know cherry harvest & the miracle that that is, will be happening shortly..

How long ya in the area for?

unfortunately we are already home. we saw enough of the Wenatchee area and cashmere to know we will be retiring there. Very friendly people everywhere we went. Lots of good wine and food. Tons of places to take my dogs on hikes and it seems people are pretty accepting of dogs off leash which is really different than wisconsin. My wife keeps asking how we are going to transport all my wine from here to there, i guess we'll have to drink more in the next two years.
