Is there any legal issues with providing home made wine for a basket to be raffled off in a Chinese Auction? We have several events coming up soon where there will be this type of fundraiser. Just curious.

THanks

I di it all the time. In fact they ask me for wine donations. Homemade wine is no different that if you sent a "retail" bottle.

K, I don't want to play devil's advocate but what happens if the winner of your wine gets deathly sick? Does anyone feel that they would have the right to sue?

Yeah I would be skeptical of that - fruit wines - some people are allergic to strawberries, peaches, etc.

I would just be careful what you donate.

Very good points and definately something to consider.

That's really no different than donating home made jams, jellies, pies, etc, etc. and that takes place all the time.

I have donated in the past. Never really thought of it. I have read in another forum, however, that because money is exchanging hands... it might be considered a problem. Giving it away is different. I can see it both ways.

Doug. Knowing Pennsylvania, there's probably a legal issue involved.

In my area, an organization had a function where admission was a bottle of wine, homemade or off the shelf. Later in the evening they drew a number and the person with that number won all the wine. The winner went home with over 100 bottles of wine.
