You didn't like the Orange Chocolate port? George has that plus several othe new ones. He has and apple and a coffee port which both sound excellent. I ordered the orange chocolate and thinking of the coffee one also.

I did, I still have a box of the OCP left :se

Coffee port does sound good.

In general I like raspberry desserts though.

Anyone by chance have a recipe that is as good as the kit? Would like to try it, just don't have $110 for a 3 gallon yield.

After making this earlier this year I would totally recommend it. Everyone who has tried it loves it and it really hasn't aged to perfection yet. My wife is now hording the rest of it back and has threatened me lot to give anymore away.
One of my local supply stores is also taking pre-orders.

I ordered one of these from my local guy. I'm pretty excited with all the good reviews. Plus, it's an excuse to buy another carboy ;)

My wife really likes the choc. raspberry port I made last November. Everyone (several) who has come by and tasted it said they like it. It is very smooth and lots of flavor, but I just don't like raspberries... never did, never will, just a personal preference.

I do believe I might like the coffee port, just haven't tried it, yet.

I've already pre-ordered the Coffee Port from George. It really does sound interesting. I wonder what you would top that off with? Any thoughts?

Plain port, or merlot. Does the instruction say to add brandy? If not, brandy is a great one to add a little ABV and to smooth it out some.

To my knowledge, it's just a plain coffee port. But the addition of brandy sounds interesting.

In my experience, these port kits rarely need topping off due to the large F-pack. I usually have excess wine left over that wont fit in the carboy actually. Who ever makes this W.E. port kit please read up on the troubles of this kit but by all means know even with the problems this is an awesome wine.

That was my experience topping off this kit; due to the F pack, I ended up with an extra bottle.

Problems? Any clues for a girl getting into this kit?

Daisy I think the issues were only with the raspberry/chocolate and if I remember right it was with stuck fermentations. From everything I have read this is the best port kit out there.

I made the orange/chocolate and everyone but Wade likes it a lot. I freiend asked me to order him 2 of those kits and I am going to try the coffee and apple kits that are new this year. We'll be able to compare notes.

Okay. I've never made a port before so I'm pretty excited. Sounds yummy! Chocolate orange sounds really good too.

Dan the apple isnt new this year, it came out last year. Daisy, the Choc Ras Port fermentation process has you start with very high sg and when it gets down you ad more sugar to get it back up to make more abv. and for some reason even though the yeast should be able to handle the abv it almost never does finish where its supposed meaning the residual sugar ends up higher then its supposed to. I still love the stuff despite this and its usually not too far off from where its sg is stated. Best thing to do while making this kit is keep the temp up around 78* and keep stirring it every day once it gest going so that viable yeast doesnt get buried under some dead yeast. I thin k the next time I make this Ill add 2 packets of the EC1118 yeast to aid in finishing. The RJS White Chocolate port is also a great kit and tastes more like Creme Brulee!

Thanks Wade. Helpful as always :try

I second what Wade said abut the CR port. Mine stopped early, but turned out fine. It seems to be a common problem with that port.
