I'm not much of a wine buyer or commercial wine drinker ...

A couple of weeks ago I was in St Louis and stopped in Trader Joe's. I stumbled upon some Trader Moon wines and picked some up to try.

The Old Moon (Old Vine Zin) is VERY good! I'll be picking up a case when I go back next week.

The Honey Moon (Voignier) is also VERY good. I'll need a couple more bottles of that too!

If they have Venetian Moon (Pinot Grigio) I'll add a few of those.

I have one bottle of Tuscan Moon (Sangiovese) I haven't tried yet, but I'll add a couple more of those for the rack as well.

Did I mention that the Old Moon is VERY good?!

I was in So California last week & bought some White Zin, 2 buck Chuck (Chuck Schaub) at Trader Joe's. $1.99 a bottle & it was also pretty good!!
I think people are crazy to spend a lot of money for expensive wine as some of the low cost wines are not bad. Wish Trader Joe's sold wine & liquor in Pa.
Since I started making Wine, I have not found anything better than my wine or wine that friends of mine have made.......

Well here in NJ we call it 3 BUCK CHUCK (2.99).

Not all that bad a wine and you get to keep the bottle!

I've had the Venetian Moon, Pinot Grigio and think it's quite good.

Fetzer wines are pretty good. also, Wild Horse for a dryer red and Conquista isn't bad, especially for it's price. Our wines should be pretty good too. :)

If I ever see them anywhere I'll try some! I guess Hermann isn't *that* far away (2 hours give or take) ...

TJ's is my favorite place for "top off" wines. I bought 2 bottles of their TJ's Reserve Syrah from Paso Robles, CA a month ago for $9.99 ea. Drank both in a single weekend. Went back 2 weeks later and all gone! Should have bought a case it was that good. The bottle was worth $5 alone!

I've had good and bad experiences with 3 buck chuck, will stay away for now, still happier with what I can produce

Its amazing how much of that stuff literally fly's off the shelf. You would think after a few bottles the novelty would wear off. There is a blog that rates the TJ's wine which is pretty good (Jason's Wine Blog) The problem that happens all the time is that a wine will get picked up and the first year it is fantastic and sells out in a few weeks or months. The next year they come back and of course TJ's wants more since it sold out so fast so they go out and source more juice, and well you know what happens then. The quality goes down and the 2nd years wine is weak and thin with no finish. The "Gypsy Chariot" red table wine was a perfect example of this.
