Hey got a deal on a compressor/pump just can't seem to find out alot on it figured I'd see if any of you have ever heard of it. It's called Pulma-Aide 561 series by Devilbiss it seems to have plenty of pull will clean it up and see what all I need to get to make it useable. At least it works good and couldn't pass it up for $2.00

ok here's the back

Wow I never saw anything like that but I would have scooped it up real quick to and anymore they had. You can't beat a name like Devilbiss. I wonder if you could email them and get any info? Keep us posted.

hey I always look for anything I think I might can use to make my wine or do some of the other thnigs I do so I'm always finding odd bottles and jugs for storing wine in and most of the time the cost is pennies I run across the 3 liters wine bottles all the timeand get them for $.50 or $1.00 I figure thatsa not bad for that size seeing it is odd and all. Oh the thing runs fairly quiet too

Looks to be a respiratory nebulizer to me. Prolly an older model as the readily available info is for models that look more modern/compact.

Great find!

For $2 you did a great job. Looks like screw ends for the hoses though so you are going to have to do some work there unless you can just insert the hose inside the screw ends.

oh the hose ends will be easy as I can use brass compression fittings to connect hoses np. Found out from company today it is old but one of their better models said it puts out 30 psi of pressure, said transfer volume is 12LPM so about 3 gallon, motor even has a heat safety built in so if motor gets to hot it shuts off till cool. Now to the hardware store for fittings and hoses. Anything else I should look into getting as I've not used one of these yet? You know like a pressure guage a canister for overflow stuff like that??

Almost every pump has that heat safety overload. Do not go above 25" on a carboy!!!!!!

The Devillbiss Pulma-Aide 561 is a nebulizer/compressor and you also mention pressure. We all use vacuum pumps to transfer, not pressure from a compressor. You could probably force liquid through the racking cane and tube, but you will be forcing a lot of oxygen in there. It is a good find, but I don't think it is right for your intended use.

Sorry if I am raining on you, but I don't want you to ruin all your wine..............

it has an intake and out on it I can use as a vacuum it has real good suction (ok no rude comments) but I'm gonna use the sucking in side not the blowing out side

I found a pretty inexpensive guage and regulator at Grainger.com. The regulator lets me lower the suction to a few inches so I can still rack into a plastic carboy (5 gallon water bottle).

I can't degas in plastic but for simple racking the regulator adds this flexibility.

I always degas in glass - 20" or so on mine does the trick.

I thought I got a deal w/ a $20 pump / vac. - Nice score!

All these pumps we use have the in let and outlet so its the norm. I sold one that had the muffler removed nd a regulator added and gauge and the pressure went up to around 60 psi's on it. Basically if you switch the ends around these pumps are compressors and some are actually sold as just that although the gauge is not the same obviously.
