Cooling probe?

If I was to use a cooling probe to lower the temp of my my must during primary fermentation, would a bronze probe with nickle platting be suitable for use in the must?

I don't think so Coaster. I would be concerned about the nickle plating. I'm pretty anal about only food grade plastic or stainless steel being in contact with my must/wine.

Waldo, I just saw this -- but wouldn't your great idea of ice-in-the-sanitized-baggie work in this application?

I am sure ice would work, I was looking for somthing I could use for 5 days at a time during the Texas summer without increasing my electric bill a huge amount. Put this in a drop the must to a cool and constant 65. And I happen to know a chiller rep.
