I believe starting with their Cellar Classic Winery Series kits and higher RJS offers kits (not all) with crushed grape skins. Are these skins the same for each of the different kit types (e.g. a Merlot vs. whatever) or are they specific to a kit type?

Where I'm going with this is to use the skins twice once for let us say a WS kit and then for a less expensive VDV kit. Must I get a Merlot, for example, in both WS and VDV in order to use the skins a second time in the cheaper kit?

I know I can ask RJS CS come Monday but just maybe someone here already knows the answer.

Thanks...

From what I understand (at least with regards to WE's grape skins), the grape skins are still a processed material. They will be pretty much spent after the first fermentation, and so you will likely not get as much as you want out of them in a second fermentation. It also would make sense from a business stand point, as the ability to reuse the skins would mean reduced sales of the higher end kits. Not to say you can't try, though. I just would not expect a dramatic improvement.
