Sorry if this has been done. Feel free to point me to the thread if it has, but I couldn't figure out how to search for this with the search tool....

I have a wine that hasn't cleared and I only used chitosan (not kieselsol). I've made kits with spagnols before that cleared beautifully (and used kieselsol) so I shouldn't have an issue with the process. Just tried this kit cause the wine store owner said the kieselsol strips character as well and he hates it. I've decided I don't care. I'll never taste the difference...

but the problem is that I already put chitosan in. Every kit says "DO NOT REVERSE THE ORDER" of D1(kieselsol) and D2(chitosan). Will it work to add a complete new D1 and D2? A different wine store guy said to try it (he'd done it) and gave me a fresh pack of each. Will that work if I had kieselsol now followed by chitosan? I thought you were screwed if you reversed the order, but if you can do this it's an easy fix.

Appreciate any help

PS the kit's a cab franc ice wine. and it seemed like the sample i took out to make space for the f-pack cleared fine (left open on the counter). but it could be an illusion as it was a smaller container and may have just looked more see through. Only difference was addition of the f-pack.

It will work just fine as Ive seen this 100 times and they all clear just fine. If the chitosan is still in there just stir it up again and then add the other packet and it will work just fine. Ive done a little side by side with the same wine being fined and the other part not fined and I couldnt tell the difference. I usually dont use a fining agent anymore but thats just because I am much more patient now and most wines dont need it.
