Here's why I have been absent without leave. For our (upcoming) 30th anniversary, we planned this trip. We stayed in a $380,000 beachfront condo. Man, I did NOT want to leave!

Bayou la Batre, AL, (home of Forrest Gump's Army buddy)...

Leaving Dauphin for Gulf Shores, AL, on the ferry...

Leaving Gulf Shores bustle to come back to our quiet island...

OK what's wrong with this picture. A beautiful beach and I'm looking to see something interesting and not a single person on it. What's with that?

That is exactly why we wanted to go after school had started. EXACTLY. We vacation for downtime, not run-around time. We like it uncrowded. Went to Gulf Shores, and just the increased pace - even at off-season level - had us scurrying back to Dauphin Island.

Oh yes, the damages: :D

1 bottle moonshiner's muscadine
1 bottle Blue Brothers bb-muscadine
1 bottle Winemaking Talk Contest wine
1 bottle Morgan Creek Carlos Muscadine
40 cans Modelo
12 bottles Red Bridge

Back to work, work, work tomorrow.

And you went without telling us?????? :ft

I try hard never to advertise when I will not be at home on the internet, and I don't recommend anyone who wishes to keep their possessions do so, either. I also don't post vacation pics until after the fact, on boards or on Facebook. See, if I posted while away and got an unwanted visitor, who would work the gun? :D

I would work the gun while I am raiding your wine cellar!!!!!!!!

If I found myself on a beach like that,I'd find it hard to come back to Tennessee. I love these mountains but lately I can hear the water calling me.

Congratulations on your 30th Anniversary, Jim. Looks like a great time. Reminds me of our 45th Anniversary in Florida. It was like our honeymoon all over again except I was the one who went into the bathroom and cried.

It was EXTREMELY difficult to get in the car. I kept saying, "We can call a realtor from right here and put our place up for sale..."

:)

But I really know I would get bored with that life if I lived it 24/7/365. I gotta have 37 different projects going at once to be happy long term.

Welcome back James, man that first day back to work sure stinks. Thanks for the pictures, that's a part of the USA I've never been to.
