This is my dry mead kit!
Comes with Wyeast 4021 (smacked!)
12# Ames Farm Artisanal Honey
4 packets yeast nutrient
Expected OG 1.080-1.083 I got 1.083 woot!
I made a yeast starter 48 hours before using Ken's recipe (I didn't have the yeast nutrient but had the energizer)
Cooling my hot starter to a good pitching temp (67degrees)
Stir plate action for 24 hours/ then fridge for 24 hours/ decant/ warm up to room temp/ pitched at 2:25pm on 10/29/2010
airlock didn't bubble when I went to bed but all the liquid in the s-lock was in the loop and in the opposite chamber interfacing the air side. This morning bubbling has started (so bubbling must of occurred between 10:00pm-8:00am). This kit gets nutrient additions at 24/48/72 hours. Today will be the first sachet. This one is going to get some oak as per Ken's recommendation.
