I just remembered a true story my old boss told me about their local easter egg hunt.

At the local park in an upscale neighborhood gathered many kids and their parents for the annual easter egg hunt. There was a large area covered with straw and hidden within the straw were many plastic easter eggs filled with candy and coupons etc.

All were gathered around in a circle waiting for the "Go" to be announced and start the egg hunt. But this year was different. It was announced that hidden amongst the straw was a "blue" plastic egg. There was only one and whoever found this special egg would be given a live easter bunny, completely free for the winner to take home and take care of themselves.

The children all cheered and their faces lit up even brighter than before.
On your mark, get set and GO! The egg hunt was on. Children running about screaming and filling their baskets with multi colored eggs. Pictures were being taken and everyone was having a wonderful time.

Then all the children returned to their parents as all the eggs had been found. Suddenly one child yelled out "I've got it, the special blue egg" Jumping for joy and the envy of all the other children.

The child help up the egg and handed it to her father. Dad looked at the egg and it suddenly hit home. We got a living breathing rabbit of our own. Silence fell upon the crowd as all started at the lucky child.

Then suddenly the dad threw the special egg back into the pile of straw. His child screamed in dismay at what her dad just did. It was up for grabs again as other children raced to grab the lite blue egg.

One by one the egg was tossed back into the pile as each parent decided they did not want the responsibility of taking care of a rabbit and all the expense that went with it.....and odor.

Finally all the children had their turn grabbing the egg and giving it to their parent only to have it tossed back up for another child. There was a circle of parents in silence and all were deeply holding their sobbing children as this one special egg lay in the middle of the straw with no takers.

Everyone left and the rabbit apparently went back home to whomever thought it would be great to giveaway a live rabbit for easter. Well not this year.
