I seems like I am always looking for small amounts of wine to top up my two 23ltr Vidal barrels. Often I top up whenever I open a bottle of wine for dinner but sometimes I need to top up and am not having wine (did I mention Tequila). And sometimes I just don't want to share whatever we are drinking with a barrel. One day I noticed these tiny 187ml bottles of typical grocery store wine. They come 4 to a pack and are decent quality wine (Yellow Tail, Barefoot, Mondavi and so on). Now I have started cleaning the empties and refilling with my wine as I rack from Italian carboy to Mexican carboy and end of carboy at bottling time. It seems one 187ml bottle is exactly what it takes for my two barrels every couple of weeks.
