So I'm ready to brew some premium kits that will age for 2-3years. I run to my local CC store today and just before I pulled the trigger for 3 kits, I realized its autumn, when the grapes to be harvested. If I bought the kit today, I would have bought the left over of the year, or like someone bought an iPhone 4s today when the iPhone 5 is approaching in a couple of month. Such though, some too much always happens when I appreciate something, I.e., I never cared when I bought the cheap kits.

Please advice

I suppose you're correct to some extent. However, most kits are made from concentrate that stays fresh for a long time. If you want a 2012 vintage, you'd likely wait until year-end or later.

If you're concerned, though, one alternative is to look for southern hemisphere (Australia, New Zealand, Chile, South Africa) based kits. Those grapes are harvested between February and April.

If you have a RJSpagnols dealer close to you there is a series of kit that comes out each fall that are made from fruit to box in 48 hrs. Each year the selection is different we all wait to find out which wines they will offer in the Hightail series. Always worth the money.

RJB, those kits seem to run near $170US, which is a lot for me to spend on a kit. They're also offering 3 kits for the holidays. Any idea if they've done that before and if they're any good?

There are two different series that are limited editions being offered. The hightail and the RQ. I have not been told which wines are being offered in the Hightail this year and will not know until they are offered. The price you are paying is in line with what I charge these are very good kits and worth every penny each year.
