Hi Everyone,

Another Noob from Colorado...I am one of Bryan's buddies from work and got the wine bug in a brief class. I have just bottled a Cabernet, Australian Shiraz and a California Trinity White and they came out nicely for my first time out.

Right now I am working on a double batch of Chocolate Raspberry Port and a Symphony white.

Looking forward to getting to know some folks in the forum.

Bottoms Up,
Dave

Welcome AngelShare. Glad to have you join in also. Have you learned the patience lesson yet so you leave all those freshly bottled wines alone for a few months?

Those are some nice wines you chose. What's up next after the port?

I have the Symphony and the Choc Raspberry Port bottled and they are both great. Welcome Dave to the world of wine making. I too did the dble batch.

Thanks everyone. Nice to meet you all.

The Cab kit was a Heron Bay (tastes good). All the others are Wine Expert kits. A couple of the are Selection and a couple are World Vineyard class. I have a Selection French Merlot ready to bottle at the end of the month and the Port's and Symphony should be ready by mid January.

On deck are three limiteds released in January, March and April. They are a CHILEAN CARMENERE - CABERNET SAUVIGNON (Jan), PACIFIC QUARTET (March) andITALIAN BRUNELLO(April). Along the way I'm sure to pick up somethingfor consumption in the short term.

I ampulling a side three from each batch (including trades) and casing the up in the closet for at least a year. That will be the foundation of my longer term collection. Itrade with my friendsto get a wider selection.

Any advice for an affordable, good quality consumption kit? I need something for daily consumption while waitingfor "my batches" to arrive :)

I'll post some pictures once reduced to a postable size...

Thanks for the kind welcome and I'm very bitten by the bug.

Cheers,
Dave

The Island Mist series are quick drinkers. The IM Blueberry Pinot Noir is very good. If you like a sweet wine the WE White Zinfandel is very good. The Black Cherry Pinot Noir from RJ Spagnols-Orchard Breezin is good early. The cheaper kits are good early drinkers, but some folks can taste Kit Taste in them(described as a Jolly Rancher Taste). It seems to be limited to the Wine Expert Kits. Have fun and experiment with lots of them. Just start now getting folks to donate empty bottles. Work on them as you collect them to clean them so they are ready to use when you need to bottle.

Welcome Angelshare to the forum. Great to have you join us. Great choice
wines. If we can help you with your new hobbie just post a question and you will be surprised how quickly you get a response.

Angel, I made the IM White Zin that turned out pretty good for my first batch.
A little of the KT there, but goes away after the bottle is open for a bit.

The WE Mezza Luna Red they say is drinkable after 3 months. I just bottled that 2 weeks ago.

So, there are some good choices out there.
