Hi Folks,
I'm actually an artist attempting to make an ink with soot. I was told that red wine was a great liquid to mix because of the use of gum arabic in it. However I can not seem to find anyone with a low priced (I am an artist) wine that uses gum arabic.

What's better than having a nice red to drink and use at the same time? A little for me, a little for the ink; ... a little more for me, lol.

Anyway, does anyone know any red wines fitting this profile?

Thanks in advance!

It is used as a fining agent (clearing) so it may not be in all wines. Unless it is on the label (comercial wines) it would be hard to tell if used. You could always take a few oz of wine and mix in some gum arabic for use as ink only and drink the rest.

Gum Arabic is used to take some of the sharpness out of wines due to acid. It is also used to help retain the pigment in red wines so it doesn't fall out years later as the bottle is laying on it's side. You can buy this Gum Arabic at Presque Isle Wine Cellars and add it to some of your wine.
