Thank you guys. It has been a wild week and this is my first opportunity to get back on the forum.
My daughter Claire went off to college two weeks ago Yesterday. She is going to the university of london, where both her mom and I went. Claire was born in the US and carries a US passport even though I am a UK citizen.
Well her student visa was not correct and she got deported straight back to the US leaving her mother at the airport., mostly because Carol was not being deported (she has a US passport but she was not entering the country as a student
)
So.... I had to pick Claire up, overnight all her materials (AGAIN) to the UK consulate in LA, who did the visa right and got it back to me on Tuesday. Claire went out again on a very expensive one way flight on Wednesday.
Her flight was cancelled, she was moved to another flight and ended up getting into Heathrow about five hours late.
In the meantime her mom, who is supposed to be working on her PhD dissertation is sat in the UK with no control over what's going on and basically not handling it well. (This is our first born and the first to leave the house) so nothing of her work got done.
So... birthday week was a bust. But! I did at least open a bottle of the south African Pinotage, which I had bulk aged for six months and then laid down for another two. Not bad! Not bad at all.
