Just found this forum. Have been brewing beer for about 2 years and now retired (or is that just tired) have time to expand into another interest of wine making.
Local home brew shop has all the gear and Vinters goodies so have just bottled a Cab Sav and now fermenting a Shiraz. Very keen to see results.
Looking forward to learning more.

Cheers

Peter

Welcome to the forum!

I assume with your beer brewing experience you had no trouble picking up wine making. Don't make bear but I think I've read that it is a more involved process than making wine,. Is that correct?

Hello

Welcome to the WMT Pedro,
You have found the right place if you have a passion for making wine.

Peter, welcome from a fellow home brewer! Just watch it, the wine making is making me lazy. Tougher to put all the work into an all grain batch when there is a wine kit to be made. Just keep reminding yourself that a batch of beer can be ready in around a months time.

Beer brewing can be as simple as you want to make it. Most people start off with the K&K (can of extract and added sugar) and ferment for a couple of weeks or progress to the "all gain" which gives you a lot more control of the whole process. Every beer in the world can be cloned after a bit of trial and error as the process is pure chemistry.(wish I had taken more notice of it at school).
I'm really keen to get into the wines process as well.

Agree. I've only progressed to all grain mid 2014 but local home brewers club have shown me ways to make it easier eg brew in a bag in a 40 lt electric urn.
Looking forward to doing both beer and wine.
