I'm 72 and retired from British Government service.
This year I started a backyard vineyard. It's south facing and about 120 feet long.
I already had a 4 year old Perlette seedless dessert grape planted.
This year I added 2x Flame dessert, 1 Lakemont, 1 Suffolk Red, all seedless and of USA origin.
Winemaking grapes (mostly German or French parentage) are Siegerrebe, Triomphe D'Alsace, Seyval Blanc, 3 x Orion, 3 x Rondo, 3 x Madeleine Angevine, 2x Huxelrebe.
Also rooted 83 cuttings I was given by local vineyards (who normally burn them).
My website http://www.grapevines.org.uk is a work in progress and my twitter feed is @grapevinesuk.
Looking forward to making wine from my own grapes in a few years.
This year I've been making wine from kits (Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc).
