New to wine making but not to wine drinking from York, PA. I just finished remodeling a basement with a wine cellar incorporated into the design and ready to start collecting as well as making. I just added the wine press yesterday, which was my grandfathers and am starting to jar my memory of watching my father and grandfather making the wine in the late 40's when I was about 5 years old in Lowellville Ohio, a small village on the Ohio-PA border. I am a newbie to this site and hope I don't become a pain in the butt with questions as I go.

Welcome. This is the place for us pain in the butt Newbies. Great forum and you are about to embark on a fun hobby. Congratulations on having the press.

Welcome to the site. Not to far from you, live in Seven Valleys. If you need any help let me know, I am still a newbie though, just been making wine for a year now. Have you found Mr. Steve's yet for supplies?

Fjcas, welcome to the forum. Many of us here are familiar with Lowellville, OH. That is where L'Uva Bella is located and where we get our Chilean juice in the Spring and California & Italian juices in the Fall. Been there many times! I, too, started making wine in the late 40's with my Father, Grandfather and Uncles in Pittsburgh and I still have the press. Sounds like we have very similar pasts. Were you also the heartthrob to hundreds of women? Neither was I.

Thanks for the info on Mr. Steve's. Didn't know it existed. Sounds like a good place to visit. Appreciate the help! Frank

Thanks for the comments. Appreciate the response and the smile generated from reading your comments. Heartthrob Not I! Very familiar with the New Castle/Pittsburg area and it does sound like we have very similar pasts. Thinking back, it was a great time, where a lot more emphasis on family than TV. Sure miss the family influence that we knew. It was a special time.
