I at this moment don't have enough bottles around to answer this one.

If you took 9 750 ml bottles and put them in a square, what are the length of the sides ?

Looking to start a simple weekend project of making a wine rack out of diamond shapes and each cell to hold 9 bottles.

Figured some one out here has to have 9 bottles laying around

The smaller bottles would be 9x9 inches tight. Some bottles are 10 1/2 x 10 1/2 tight. But you are pritty safe at 10 1/2 x 10 1/2. Very few are that big. I try to keep the smaller bottles so I made mine 10 x 10

About 9x9" rounded off. If you want a bit of wiggle room, make it 10x10. Usually you will stack 3-2-3 or 4-3-4, et which will be a bit shorter. Check Scuba's Wine Diamond rack.

Come to think of it, the larger diamiter 750ml bottles are burgundy style, and they do not stack well any way.

Thanks,

Nothing special bottle wise, Just probally these,

Clear Bordeaux style bottle 750 ml, per dozen

Order #9 straight corks or #8 tapered corks to use with these bottles</TD></TR></T></TABLE>

99.9999% of the bordeaux and claret bottles will fit very well in a 10x10. The one in a million that does not fit will be found holding a $1,000 bottle of wine and you should build a custom rack just for it.
