I am new to the board. My grandfather passed away over a year ago. He had a farm and has concord grape vines growing and white grapes as well. I am interested in maintaining them until someone else takes over the property. But I have no idea how to take care of them or maintain them. When should I start pruning them? Is there a time I should not prune them? I live in Wisconsin and right now everything is thawing out. Most of the snow is gone. I'm not sure what type of Concord grape they are, or what type of white grape they are. We can't find any information on specifically what type of concord grape they are. Not sure what type of white grapes he had either. We just know he definitely had Concord grapes.

Thanks for any help you can give.

John

Only types of concord grapes that I'm aware of are white and red. Have raised red concord here in Ks for about 18 years now. Now is the time to be pruning back to your cordons. I spur prune mine, and take a lot of wood off every year. Have mine on a top wire cordon trellis. It would help to know what type of trellis they are on. If you don't know, some pics would be useful.
