Hi there, new to the forum, although I already have a diary and questions thread in the Country Wines section (answers appreciated!).

I am from Wellington, New Zealand and got into this because I have friends who are into beer brewing and wanted to try something a little different (and I have stuff to trade!). Although Wellington is bracketed by great wine areas to the north and south (Marlborough and the Wairarapa) my main interest is fruit wines for now.

Welcome to WMT! Some of my favorite reggae bands (Black Seeds, Katchafire) and wines (Marlborough) are from the Wellington/Hamilton/Nelson area.

Yes indeed! If you like those guys you should check out Fat Freddies Drop and Kora, by the way. And yes, we're very fortunately to be able to access superb wines (as far as I can tell) at really good prices. I wish I knew a few growers so I could slip in after the mechanical harvest to pick scraps though!
