How long do whole house filters last?

I posed this question to Wade the other night and he guess-timated at least five, 6-gallon batches. I believe he recently switched to this system. Is there anyone who has a lengthy experience with this filtration system? Thanks!

Let's assume visually clear wine with very little, if any, sediment.

The filters are made for 15,000 gallons so I think if you could rinse them out and get them clean again they should last. But at $2 I am not to worried if don't last longer than 3 carboys worth. Still way less then the superjet and those filters.

I have 6 each of 1 & 5 micron filters coming. I am going to try back flushing them (running the pump backwards) with some water and cleaning stuff to push out the sentiment.

I have a whole house filter 20" on my well and I only replace them every couple months. I don't think my semi-clear wine will clog up the filter faster than my house possibly could.

I have a 1 and 5 micron filter coming from Wade. You must be getting the Connecticut discount because they cost $7.50 each hahaha. If I can get 15,000 gallons of wine through them it's no problem (they will outlive me). I just need to know if I should order more. Thanks!

I ordered mine from the same place I get my house filter from. Wade announced his after I ordered.

Should be interesting to see how they work. I had the filter sitting around for 3 years with plans to use to fill the hot tub but never got around to getting adapters. If you are wondering I still change the hot tub water but I just don't do an extra filter.

Mailman just dropped off my filters! I guess I have to get a couple adapters and start bottling now.

Manufacturer says the wound filter will collect through the whole filter and you can't clean them out. You can let them sit in a bowl to drain but the sediment will stay there. Life span depends on how much you are filtering and how much sediment there is. The wine filtering got him thinking and was never asked that before.

It all depend on how big your house is and how often you filter it!

Flem, Robllovd s not using the same filter as I am selling!!!! he may be using the same company though. Am I charging a little over what I pay for them yes, but not that much! The ones I am buying re just inder $5 each plus shipping to my house. Can you get cheaper filters yes, but these are what the rep there recommended for this specific job due to acids in the wine and also due to very limited fiber release. Its also what Grapeman recommended who uses it at his commercial winery.

I don't know why but I filtered thru a 1 micron and 2 day later had settling in the bottom of the bottle, i used the string filter that was posted here

Im betting that it is fiber release. I am not selling those wound filters! I am selling the Thrermally bonded spun Poly filters which the Rep. said would be the best for us. They have very limited fiber release.
