I know quite a few of our members have been or are being affected by Irene. Stay safe and tell us your own story about the storms.

For myself it began raining about an hour ago and the wind is still very light as the eye is about 400 miles away- stillsouth of New York City yet. The latest rainfall predictions show our area expecting up to 10-15 inches of rainfall in pockets and generally 5-7 inches. I hope the grapes stay put on the vines!

I know Al is right in the projected path down there and also Wade. How are you guys doing?

I'm in NJ and just passed us. about 6" of rain. Was not bad as far as the wind. Much lower than expected. I was maybe 40-50mph

Sending lots of positive thoughts that way. The hardest part is when you are ready for the storm and you have to just wait it out.
We got a band of storms that missed our home and a little more wind then usual. Normally after a storm the humidity will drop for a day or so, this one left it behind. Last night at 10 PM is was still 87 with a feels like temp of 97.
Stay safe and try to enjoy the day off.

Its been raining here already about 28 hours! All the rivers are at flood stage already. The worst of the storm should be hitting here in about 2 hours.

Hang in there guys and please be safe.....Will be thinking of all of you...BEST OF LUCK...

I'm glad they cancelled the Farmer's Market in the mountain valley. The rivers have flooded the field there and and are washing the roads out to and from the market location.

We lost power for a couple hours as a transformer shorted out. Back on for now, but the rains are coming in earnest now and the winds have picked up considerably.

I was thinking aboutRich and Al. Hope you guys dont get any damage and I'm pretty sure a lot of water right now isn't good for the brix and will delay picking. My thoughts are with you. Down here in southern NY we just got a couple rain bands, not much more than a nice summer rain. Good luck guys.

Pete

Have seepage. No sump pump. shop vac and using the pond pump tp get it out. no pumps around here

Hey guys, Lots of weather here in RI but not as bad as it could have been. We hVe had numerous trees down taking wires with them and starting a few small fires in trees . Had 1 call where it looked like a small super cell went through or something. There were 5or6 oaks in a row that had been snapped about half way up. A few fell on a couple sheds but only one hit a house. I think most of the rain has passed but we are getting some wind still.

It is still raining quite heavily and the wind is picking up all the time with gusts to 70mph. Trees are going down all over and the rivers are washing roads out and causing widespread flooding. I walked out to the vineyard and there is standing water everywhere. I heard a huge crackling and then a crash as another 100 foot pine toppled over close by.
It is hairy here right now, but the storm center is across the lake now in Vt and should move out soon. A State of Emergency exists in the county right now and nobody is to go out on the roads, especially overnight as you might be driving along and go into a river where the road has been washed away.

Theres a lot of people here in Ct with no power, I believe the number is well above 700,000 as of quite awhile ago but I havent been following the news in awhile, cleaning up the yard instead. Made it through that one unscathed. Im going to have to drain the gas out of my generator as its getting pretty old now!!!!

I'm glad you guys are handling it OK. I flew from Ohio to Utah yesterday. There was alot of talk in the airport about the weather, and obviously tons of delayed and cancelled flights.

Glad it didn't hit with the intensity they first anticipated. Would have been a whole new story. Glad evryone is OK

Many of the area roads here are gone. The rivers rose so quickly many village roads became the rivers as they flowed over the bridges. The village I was supposed to be in yesterday, is pretty much gone. They cancelled the market at the last minute when all the vendors told the manager he could open it if he wanted, but we weren't going. Now it is gone.

The roads were almost all replaced from the spring roads, but now another round of replacement is needed. Our county has a five day State-Of-Emergency in place and nobody is supposed to travel unless an emergency. We are still here, but battered and bruised.

It's hard to keep everyone from sight seeing - Glad to hear you made it through and the storm had lost a lot of its punch.

The problem with the sight-seers is that many roads are undercut by the streams and rivers. When someone drives over one, it collapses. Crews are being sent out at daybreak.

Amen Waldo,

Today is the 6th anniversary of Katrina, and god forbid that Irene would have been that strength that far north. I wish all you guys the best, Rich, Al, Wade, Tepe, and Joe's Wine

Most of my family lives in RI and will be without power for the next week roughly. My mom is happy though, she has the only old coffee percolator in the neighborhood and a gas stove...lol. Hope your grapes are ok Rich!
