okay so i have been looking for this answer covered in other posts with no luck so I will ask it here. I have an old primary 23 liter pail that I have filled with cool water and K-meta and I am using it to also store my equipment. I already found out the hard way that certain metals dont do good with the K meta, but what about plastics? Is it harmful to let the K-meta soak with plastic equipment?

Also I like the idea of having a squirt bottle sanitizer ready to go when needed, but are the plastics spray bottles able to with stand K-meta? I have noticed that both my pail and my spray bottles are HDPE plastics , which I believe are food grade plastics.

I am not 100% sure about all plastics. I had the same idea as you last year. My clear siphon hose went extremely cloudy in a week or so. I chucked it in case it had started to break down. Now I just clean well when done and let dry. Sanitize before next use. Maybe someone else will know more about some of the other harder plastics.I usually have part of a 1 gallon plastic jug of it mixed up that has never deteriorated in 4 years or so.

really 4 years in a jug and its still good to go? How do you know the kmeta is still active? do you just smell the water and see if there is that chemically smell?

iv heard star san fans constantly suggesting to use ReverseOsmosis or Distilled water if you want to keep your sanitizer healthy and strong. so maybe the same rule applies for kmeta? did you use good water for you jug of kmeta or just regular tap water.

I mean the same jug I put the meta in has been used for four years. I use up the gallon of meta, and then mix up a new batch. I just use tap water.

yea tap water is probably fine eh. k meta is a pretty harsh chemical so it probably doesnt matter too much about using quality water. iv only heard people mentioning the use of quality water to preserve there starsan mixture.
