Has anyone made the VN lieframilch?? I started mine yesterday and it came with a bottle of wine conditioner. First time I have had a kit come with this.

The conditioner is what makes it so smooth with some sweetness. Just add it in when the directions say to towrds the end. This is a very nice summertime wine. My sister made it and all the women love it. I found it very nice also.

Appleman, good to know that it adds a little sweetness. I am really impressed with the VN kits I have made so far.
Do you think this wine would be drinkable by Thanksgiving?

Glad to hear this is a "girlie" wine. Sounds delicious!

I would think that a VN started today would be peaking around Thanksgiving. It would probably be drinkable bu July or August.

WOW, that is very encouraging!!!! Looking forward to this one.....heck....I look forward to all of them!!! hahaha

I have this one in the box [haven't opened it yet]..... Just a note... the instructions on some earlier VN kits were not clear on when to add the K-meta, sorbate, conditioner and clearing agents.....The MM people are working on them....They hope to make them clearer and easier to understand....Good luck with your wine......

Appleman, along with the wine conditioner it also came with the siligel and the other clarifer (can't remember).
Nothing in the dirrections say when to use the wine conditioner???

I just racked to the carboy on Sat. I have a couple of weeks before I go to the next step.
Any suggestions???

Bert, I racked my Liebframilch on Sat.

Trying to figure out when to add the wine conditioner. Instructions left that part out. haha

As Appleman said add the conditioner after it is stabilized and degassed......Did you get the yeast nutrient pack also???? It calls for being added at sg of 1.040 to 1.050 [when they want you to rack also]......How's the wine so far???? I need to get mine started..

Bert, the instructions were a little different than others I have made.
Before I racked I stirred the must in the primary. Then racked to the carboy and added the yeast nutrient. My SG was 1.020. I guess I left it in the primary too long. (4 days)
Whew, it is bubbling like a Harley Davidson now!!!!!
Lots of lees dropping to the bottom.
If smell is any indication.....it smells wonderful.

Bert, I made a wine base spreadsheet and was looking at it the other day. I have made 4 VN kits. The couple that are at the 1 yr mark are so good. I am impressed with these VN kits.

Good luck with your kit and hope you get started soon!! Keep us posted!

Bert, didn't know if I told you that I did the battanoge process. I will rack a 2nd time this weekend and add the clarifiers and degass.

I was thinking about doing a battanage on it too...just a busy time of year for me....

Bert, I goofed on this thread!! I used the battonage on the chardonnay NOT the liebframilch!!

Appleman, the instructions didn't say anything about the conditioner. I have clarified and stabilized. Can I still add this in the carboy?

NVM, I found your thread on the previous page. Will be adding conditioner at the end of the week along with the k-meta before bottling.
