I have noticed while scrolling through threads that the cost of fruit is a pain...I live in a rural Maine community and summertime is bountiful for most. We have a barter only site for the town where no money is exchanged. Many of us are novice homesteaders and are always trading our crops for other crops....we barter just about anything though. It is a great way to create community, have local organic fruits and veggies....even eggs, meat, and dairy. Thought I'd share the idea...here is our FB group to give you an idea....

I run an automotive shop and a lady who knows a friend of mine had quite a few pounds of grapes she wanted to get rid of, so I balanced & rotated her tires in exchange for the grapes. I don't know if she's got any grapes this summer yet or not. Which reminds me, I really need to pull all those grapes out of the freezer and press them.

I would be careful about posting this information in a public forum. I am a CPA and one of the first things the IRS ask in an audit is if you did any bartering. That is the same as income and they want their share of the taxes from bartering. Just saying......

You gotta love our Gubermont :: !!

Well they gotta prove which automotive shop it is and then prove that any bartering actually took place. If it's off the books they're going to have a hard time finding it and sometimes my memory ain't that good...
