With all the calculations I see here and there and the specific amounts of this and that. I thought I should consider buying a scale. Below are three that I have found on Amazon.

This first one is American Weigh Scales GEMINI 20 portable Milligram Scale, 20 by 0.001 G. $22.00 prime and the reviews on it are good. The review by Ginkgo on September 28th, 2011 is amazing.
463 reviews ,273 five star

This second one is American Weight Signature Series AWS-100 digital pocket scale,100 by 0.01 . $8.00 prime with 877 reviews: 583 five star

The third frankford Arsenal Reloading Scale is $22.00 prime with 222 and 143 five star.

The fourth one was submitted by Sour_grapes( in a post I started on "welches Grape Concentrate) from E-bay

Anybody have any to add to the list or opinions on the matter.
Thank You.

Corinth, my vote is for #2. I bought one several years ago and it just recently went bad. I just bought two more. I love this scale. Keep in mind as most things today, these are throw away tools. For the price I figured it was easier just to buy two now.

Thanks for the advice:
"Ibglowin. I would also "spring" for the weight set as well for another $10 so you can check calibration every now and then. These things are amazingly accurate for the money"

I think this is what you were talking about:

The American Weigh scales Calibration Weight kit WGHTKITM2 for $9.00 prime
93 review:42 five star and 34 four star

And Santa Goes "HO, HO HO" and the cash register goes "Ch'ing. Ch'ing Ch'ing"

So far, I think I am sold on number 2 on the scales I have seen and the calibration set also on Amazon.

Anyone else?

Thanks,
Corinth

Agree with Dan. I bought one of the American Scales fro Amazon. I got this one:

http://www.amazon.com/American-Weigh-Signature-AWS-100-SIL-Digital/dp/B003STEJ20/ref=sr_1_12?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1387122791&sr=1-12

Not sure what the difference is, they look like identical specs. I would also "spring" for the weight set as well for another $10 so you can check calibration every now and then. These things are amazingly accurate for the money.

10 year warranty is pretty nice. Can you calibrate these other then the self calibration that the meter performs every time it is turned on? Or do the weights just tell you when the meter is going bad and time to replace?

The American Weigh signature series scale states that it "weighs up to 100 grams in 00.01 gram increments."

The American Weigh scales Gemini states that it will "weigh up to 20 grams in 0.001 increments."

Ginko, one of the reviewers did an exhaustive review which was stated by many that it was one of the most informative reviews many of the Amazon readers had ever read. In addition, many also stated that they learned quite a bit about the process regardless what brand they bought. I have posted the link in case anyone is interested.

As for Calibration, Ginko addresses that question also.

They both come with a 10 warranty

Hope this is helpful

Milligram Weigh Scales: prices, reviews, and brands

Dear Ibglowin,

A'int it amazing! I read the whole thing plus all the comments. Even if someone did not want to buy that particular scale, by reading Gingko's review, one would learn things that they did not know before. I know I sure learned a lot and a lot of it is still beyond my grasp. I will take what Gingko wrote and many of the comments and add that to my notes. Apparently, from the comments, I am not the only one with that idea
.

I just want to measure out K-meta , Na-sorbate and other additives: taking into account humidity, light, electrostatic charge, convection air currents, magnetism etc is a bit more than I would do--Hey, I know , maybe Heisenberg is really alive and living!

I am pleased to read that you found the review helpful and informative.

Glad I could help

I bought the American weigh signature series on amazon for about $ 10.00 and then bought the American Weigh scales calibration set for another $10.00.
The only problem I had was the calibration set did not include a 100 gram weight which it uses to calibrate it. So I bought a 100 gram weight for about $3.00. I did not want to dump all the weights on it at one time.

Hey that's coincidence same here. I bought it about 8 months ago and found it very handy and efficient. Though I haven't used it for a month but I think it is still good and efficient scale.
