It just arrived in the mail...I have a few questions.

1. Do I need to buy some cleaning solution and storage solution?

2. The 2 buffer packets that came with it, do I pour the solution into a beaker with some water or just stick the probes right into the packet...

3. The PH probe has a cap on it with what appears to be some type of crystals inside of it.....Is that just used for shipping.....

Thx

Storage solution is something you should use. Fill the cap about half way with the storage solution and carefully work the cap onto the probe. With a little practice can do this without getting storage solution every where. The crystals are harmless byproducts of the storage solution. Rinse it of before using.

It doesn't matter if you dump the pouches into something else or place the probe into the pouches. Don't add water to the calibration solutions.

Okay for all of the money and space on have tied up with equipment this may seem silly but I use the 7 pH solution for storage solution and when I first got my meter I kept the fluid in the packet. Then I would just roll it tightly and put a clip on it to seal it.

I now buy the little bottles of buffer solution and pour a sample into the cap to calibrate. Then I pour the sample out when I'm done as to not contaminate the rest. This is the best option I've found.

since we are on the subject. I read where someone put a hole in the cap of a gallon of distilled water and placed the probe in it to store it. He changes the gallon about every six weeks. anyone else do that.
