Chromatography test 12 days ago and showed completion. And planned to move forward with the wine with MLF assumed complete
Had some previous accuVin MLF stripsleft over so just did a test just because I had em. Looks conflicting.
I think I'll still be moving forward as planned, just taking my time now before I stabilize. But this tells me to ALWAYS WAIT LONGER after a chroma test showing completion. IMG_7375.jpgIMG_7376.jpg

Yes, that is the general consensus. The information I have indicates that the malic spot disappears between 200 and 400mg/l.

You get a little better resolution if you keep the spots small, less than 1/4" dia, and use 1/2 capillary tube of sample, but you have to apply the sample in increments, allowing the spot to dry before adding more sample. The idea is that a larger sample confined to a small spot will provide greater resolution. It takes more time and may not be worth the effort, except maybe as a last confirming chromatogram.

That's great advice. Again. I've read to always wait a few more weeks and these tests just provided reassurance. I've read conflicting numbers as to the malic content to be considered "finished". But seems to be anywhere from 0-50. Or .05g/l.
Thanks for the tip on the chroma test. I'll keep that in mind for future tests. I kept em small, but still ended up 1/4" to 3/8". IMG_7119.jpg
