I thought I would add some information that may be helpful to know since I just found out.
My car is being fixed and since I am having my insurance do the work,I do have to pay the deductible once everything is done. However, what I did find out is if you are rear-ended which usually makes the other party responsible, below are some things to know.
1. for the time you are without a car, you can get either a free rental or a portion of the rental paid for by the party's insurance (PI)who caused the collision
a. If you have rental insurance, your insurance will cover it.
2. You can also get paid a non-use amount from the(PI) insurance company if you are playing musical cars and choose not to rent a car or get a rental
3. If you decide to have your own insurance company do the work cause the other insurance company is going to make things difficult for you, you can have part of your deductible refunded to you.
4. lastly, if you tell the insurance company who is responsible for hitting you that you have no physical claims at the moment or soft tissue issues, they very well offer you money since you did suffer some discomfort.
Multiple car collision:
The same applies if you are in the middle of a multiple car accident. Someone rear ended you and you rear ended the car in front.
You need to look at the police report which will state who they think caused the accident( the on scene officer may tell you different).
blame is generally broken down into percentages and your logic about who hit whom to your insurance company or the party's insurance who hit you can change this percentage and what portion you may pay and what portion others will pay.
You will need to make a lot of phone calls and send a lot of e-mails. Remember, your driving record which can influence your future premiums is worth the trouble.
