image.jpg A neat mutation if I do say so. I selected this one to propagate because of the foliage which is unusually large(for a muscadine) measuring 4 1/2 W x 5 1/4 tall.

According to the stuff I read typical is 4 x 4. While I was processing it for cuttings I noticed something strange. It looked like 2 vines had melded into 1 and more crazy a forked tendril on a muscadine.

It's not a flower stem that has been cut off below the flowers?

I don't think so bc I have seem that before and 1 of them is a lot shorter than the other.

When I get a chance I will examine the vine for more. I only took a small piece that was ground layered.

Additionally, anyone know what causes it to double vine like that?

If the phenomena can be repeated then it can be isolated.

I'm going to have to trelis this thing up now to see if the fruit is any different. Argh!
