Wife and I were visiting some friends and they were sharing some of their homemade wares - we loved it. Immediately went out and bought the "beginners kit" - complete with equipment and juice.

We are starting with a Grand Cru, International Collection - Argentin Malbec Syrah wine and just finished mixing for our primary fermentation... wish us luck! I can see where this becomes an obsession as we are already talking about getting a white wine and starting it in a few weeks. YAY!

Welcome to the forum, Chris - lots of great people on here. You'll love this hobby! Red wines take a while to get to a drinkable state, so a white would be a good choice for a followup; they can usually be drunk much sooner. Another good choice for this time of year is one of the mist kits - great for summer drinking and ready as soon as it's bottled.
Good luck.

Welcome to the forum.

Like Dugger said, the whites and mist kits are drinkable sooner. make some of them, so you can sample your own wares. While you are drinking them, start some wines that take longer to become drinkable.

For the sweet mist or summer wines, several kit makers have them. I like RJ Spagnol's Orchard Breezin' summer wine kits.

Be sure to take equipment and hand sanitizing very seriously!

Use the slurry from your firist wine to start a batch of Skeeter Pee. It finishes very fast and is a great light drink. Check out Lons site at skeeterpee.com. It gives you the recipe and is fun to make and drink. And welcome to the forum. Arne.
