Well, it seems like it was one of those weekends where most had nothing to do, so I ended up having a bottling party.

It all came together last Friday. I spent most of Saturday simply scrubbing vessels, mopping the floor twice, wiping down all counters and surfaces, and also filtering wine in advance of bottling on Sunday.

We bottled our 2013 barrel reserve and some 2014 Chilean Carmenere. What a fun time we had. As always, I provided the crew with a nice meal which we ate outside in beautiful weather...

Fresh avocado and strawberry salad in a balsamic vinagrete,

Cajun/Creole seafood soup,

Grilled pork tenderloin with rice pilaf,

Banana Cream pie

There is no beating a bottling party. Does anybody else throw bottling parties?

Hey JohnT - looks like another good time down at your place, with great food and company!

I do this on a much smaller scale with my wine Co-op. A few times a year (3-4) some girlfriends and I pitch together to do up a few kits and split the makings. I do all of the fermentation, etc. right up to bottling, then they pop over for the evening and we bottle, laugh, label, snack, and generally have a great time. Then each takes home around 30 bottles of wine, 10 from each kit.

It's always been a good time, and everyone goes home tired, but happy. They are always amazed that I can make something so yummy in my basement, and that they are able to be a part of it.
