Want to make one for my mother. She like Reisling, Vouvray ect, even the dryer styles like Chardonnay or Sauv Blanc.

Who has made what with good results.

Thanks.

EDITED: Title should more appropriately read: What is your FAVORITE white kit.

Your question is like asking who makes the best cola or the best perfume. Ask 3 people and you'll get 4 answers. But, I'll get you started. By and large, there are three kit makers: Winexpert (the largest), RJ Spagnols, and Cellar Craft and all make generally similar wines within each category.

My preference is Cellar Craft Showcase Chardonnay Yakima Valley, KenRidge Showcase Chilean Chardonnay (a Cellar Craft brand), and Winexpert Sonoma Dry Creek Chardonnay.

I'm not big on Rieslings but hopefully you'll get input from others.

Thanks Tony. I realize it's very subjective but I have zero experience with white kits so I appreciate getting feedback from those who have tired them.

Actually Tony has things a little bit wrong...Vineco is the company that is now making Cellar Craft and Ken Ridge Showcase kits.

Our favourite white wine is a Vineco kit...KenRidge Showcase German Gewurztraminer.

I made the CC Showcase Yakima Valley Riesling. If she likes an off dry (not too sweet by any means) Riesling then she will love this one. That wine was good to go in only 3 months. One of the fastest "early" drinkers I have ever made. I am down to 5 bottles and it has just improved with age as well. Go with a 16L kit or larger and you will not be disappointed. I just bottled the RJS EP Australian Sauv Blanc (used to be New Zealand) and its is excellent at 8 months as well.

Any of the CC Showcase Whites will turn out a commercial quality white wine. I have not made all of them (Chardonnay, Viognier, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gruner Veltiner and many of the LR Whites) but have made enough to know that they are very high quality and all very true to varietal character.

The CC showcase Yakima Chardonnay is a very nice, soft Chard. Very little bite and very smooth.

I've made the CC Showcase Gruner Veltliner and that is very good.. A bit pricy tho in the $150+ range. I also really like the WE Luna Bianca, it's my wifes favorite of all the wines I have made.. and it's under $100.00 and drinkable in a few months. I would highly recommend that kit if you like a bigger bolder chard.
