Has anyone made a Pinot Grigio and added oak to it? Wondering how it turned out. The kits never seem to add it and I never hear of it either.... Would think a little oak would add to the taste. After all it is probably made in oak barrels as well...

As far as I have learned, Pinot Grigio is traditionally not oaked. In fact many times it is aged in stainless steel to give it that "steely" crisp taste.

It's always fun to experiment though :)

As the polarhug said, it is aged in steel not oak. For your own curiosity you could take (3) 375 ml bottles of finished wine and put different levels of oak chips in each one for about 14 days. Now taste each one to determine which strength you like or if you like it at all.
