I remember turning around as a kid to get gas for 49.9 a LITRE. My folks are paying over 2 bucks a liter in Vancouver. Alberta is about a buck .40

Funny, my parents were talking with my kids about that just last night. They have civics, but it's pretty much once in middle school and once in high school. Fleeting at best.

They are fortunate to have it at all. Many school systems don't. I think a passing grade in two high school semesters of physics and two high school semesters of personal finance and investing should be required for graduation. Both make better and more well-adapted citizens but there are powerful forces aligned against teaching them.

Me too.

My Dad used to send me as a youngster to walk down to the gas station with 75 cents and a two-gallon can. It took 50 cents to fill the can and the remaining 25 cents was for me to buy him a pack of cigarettes.
