Well, it's Nov. 12 and I am still optimistic that some day I will be able to turn off the air conditioning and switch over to heat. I cannot believe I am still wearing shorts and t-shirts. Just about to go out and mow the grass again, but thought I'd snap a quick pic and post it. What better pic subject than one with the HVAC in the background?

Oh BTW, here's most of this morning's work. The rest is in another room. Tomorrow it's supposed to rain so I can start building out that rough door opening you see. Then more staining when the sun comes back.

Well, that one is done. More staining and polyurethaning tomorrow and Friday. Raining today. I am using polyurethane left over from the last kitchen remodel, so it is 25 years old. Works fine! Two more to go that will be easier because it is just the molding and not the whole doorway, then baseboards. Here's a couple to give an idea what we are after. It's sort of a Craftsman-like look. We are constrained by the fact that the woodwork in the rest of the house is stained Jacobean, so I felt like bringing in the dark wood on the doorways and the baseboards but running the cove the same golden oak as the cabinets might work out. It ties in the oak of the fans, too. I'm really gonna try to reuse the original baseboard moldings just because they are original and some are in decent shape for the smaller area where they will be installed now. Many of you may be sick of my kitchen pix, but it is pretty much my life this year, lol...

I invested in good quality knee pads. The elastic can be rough on the skin after hours of wear, but my knees don't feel like I'm 100 later on

You mentioned knees, so I assumed. I'm also gonna assume it's not just knees ... lower back, middle back, shoulders ... probably easier to just say "body"?
