Ugh, I have an aversion to taking selfies. I always come out looking very uncomfortable taking them and for good reason. It does make me uncomfortable.

Join the crowd, that was the second selfie I ever took with my own camera (some (my sister) say that I used to do selfies on other peoples cameras back in the day when you had to get them developed). Suck it up and give us your best shot, you can always use a tri-pod.
