My daughter asked me this weekend if I would make her a white wine. She is about the only one in the family that drinks white. My wife and I only drink big loud reds. So as Sergeant Schultz</span> says "I know NOTHING." I told her I would start one for her in April. She likes Chardonnay and for summer wants something light and crispy. I am thinking a 16ltr or so kit that might be approachable by August and mature in a year. BTW I have ruled out Mists Breeze and the such.

Light and crispy for summer conjures up 2 things in my mind: Pinot Grigio (RJS Cellar Classic Harvest Collection) and Soave (RJS Grand Cru). The pinot is amazing, and the Soave is a very nice early drinker!

I just made the CC Showcase Riesling (there is a thread) and its pretty fantastic at only 3 months since the yeast was pitched. I don't really like Riesling (this was a Xmas present for my daughter who really does) but this is one tasty white. Crisp and refreshing and ready by Summer for sure.

We made a homemade caesar salad this weekend (no bottle dressing) with lots of lemon and anchovies and the Riesling was just the perfect wine match. It was hard to stop eating as you just never wanted that food/wine combination in your mouth to ever stop!

Thanks so far.
What would we do without Daughters, I always say "everyone should have a daughter . . . and ONE is probably enough." I like the suggestions so far. I am going to send her your comments in a day or two and let her choose. I may get her to buy a Riesling and Soave and see if she likes them. I now she lies dry and fresh.

I made the MM Renessiance Riesling 1 year ago. It's nice and light with a pronounced green apple flavor. It is a dry Riesling and very nice. I am also fond of Pinot Grigio. I currently have a MM Masters PG in carboy so have not sampled yet. I'll bottle in about 3 weeks and will have to steal a sample to seewhat it is like at 3 months old. Based on other threads I anticipate this to be a very nice PG.

I will also place my vote for the Gewurtztraminer. I prefer whites and this was hands down my favorite I have made. I actually do not think I have any left, Time to order another kit.

Good Luck

I am mainly a red wine drinker but my bride prefers white. She highly recommends Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. I have not seen a kit for it but my favorite white is Vernaccia di San Gimignano. It is one of the fewer DOCGs that are white wines.
